Spring lasts only three months, and if you do not plan it well, you might end up having to wait until next year to make the most of this lovely season! I have been looking around and was surprised to see the exciting events coming up in the UK this spring:
1. Celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday at Royal Windsor
A unique equestrian-themed party has been organised in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. This event will see more than 1,000 participants, including actors, dancers and bands, and 900 horses entertaining the queen and you! So, don’t miss this once in a lifetime celebration on the 15th of May!
2. Torch-lit museum tours
Until Saturday 14th May, galleries, historic spaces and museums will open their doors for the special after dark exploration of art, heritage, and history across London. Museum at Night can be experienced at the National History Museum, Tate Modern, the British Library, Royal Airforce Museum, etc.
3. Catch the Tetbury Woolsack Race
The Tetbury Woolsack Race is unquestionably one of UK’s most unconventional sports! Here competitors run up a steep hill as fast as they can and hand a heavy sack to their team mate to get it back up the hill! If you are not a participant in the race, you may still enjoy an entertaining day out in the picturesque region of Cotswolds!
4. Bask on the Sandy Beach
Think twice if you are heading abroad in May, as the mercury is set to rise above 24C to make summer feel even closer. Laying on the pristine golden sands, or taking a dip in the emerald and turquoise sea is simply something you cannot miss in the not very often balmy Britain!
5. Go for a Ramble
Did you know it’s the National Walking Month? It’s time to dust off your hiking shoes and ramble through the lanes and fields of the countryside. This is the best opportunity for you to walk for pleasure with the scorcher that’s predicted for the next coming weeks.
6. Watch the International Dance Festival
Happening until 22nd May, International Dance Festival Birmingham is one of the largest dance festival in the world. Watch the world class performances, and get the opportunity to participate too! This event is happening in venues across Birmingham, and this includes the city’s Hippodrome.
7. Bowl Over to Brighton
The 50th Brighton Festival has kicked off for weeks of performance across the city, along with music and art. This festival showcases everything from theatre to music, and literature to circus. The Brighton Festival and the Brighton Fringe are happening in tandem right now, and this means you’ll be having double the fun!
8. Make the most of Shakespeare Woz Ere
It’s been 400 years since William Shakespeare left our world. To commemorate his 4th centenary, there are varied programme of events happening all around London and Bankside until July. Immerse yourself in this brilliant fest through exhibitions, talks, walks, theatre, music and special events!
9. The Chelsea Flower Show
Every year, the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s grounds are converted into inspirational tiny gardens. These show gardens and horticulture displays are exposed to the delight of nearly 200,000 visitors. The Chelsea Flower Show is known as the world’s greatest flower show! Here you can also find a host of retailers with outdoor products, garden goodies, and green fingered advice.
10. Trooping of Colour
Celebrate the Queen’s official birthday in June with the superb military parade that’s been taking place in London since 1920, and known as Trooping of Colour. The best part is that you can watch the event for Free on the 11th of June by standing on the edge of St James’s Park or The Mall overlooking Horse Guards Parade.
