There are many people who are following the same trend by going to the gym to stay fit. Running on a regular basis, as a physical exercise, is a good initiative as we have to stay healthy. But what if you have to choose between a treadmill or running outdoors?
The treadmill, invented in 1818, is one of the most popular home exercise equipment. The treadmill is a good option as it allows people to have a controlled workout program as the speed, warm up period and cool down period can be chosen. Also, many treadmill machines come with the step counter and the heart rate monitor, which helps to keep track of the fitness program. Having a treadmill at home also helps to stick to a regular exercise schedule and helps to follow the progress of the fitness program. Another plus point is that you can stay in your home clothes and be comfortable without the fear of being watched by strangers if you do not like to expose your body. Even the bad weather does not stop you from running. However, a treadmill can be very costly and it takes a lot of space. Having a treadmill also requires regular maintenance from professionals which can be dear.
Conversely, running outdoors allow us to see the beauty of nature while breathing fresh air. It helps us to socialise with other runners, or making new friends in the parks. Outdoor running helps to develop your own pace, adapt to different terrains and weather conditions. It acts like a stress- reliever to see beautiful sceneries rather than the counter on your machine. Nowadays, it is easy to hit your goals just like the treadmill too, by just downloading a running application on your smartphone. If both of them provide the same physical benefits, what about the mental benefits? Running outdoors, however, can be dangerous as safety is never guaranteed while running outdoors or in parks. When it is pouring with rain, running outdoors is not necessarily the best choice.
